MELVIN DAVISThis New Years Eve, join "Detroit Soul Ambassador" Melvin Davis with his band The United Sound to rock into 2012!
"The song, pressed on the local Wheel City label, is one of the most
obscure in the history of recorded Detroit soul music. Yet when the band
breaks into its intro, the packed house of testifying dancers erupts,
and when Melvin Davis sings that first line, they’re right there with
him. They know every word. It’s uplifting. It’s soulful. It’s downright
spiritual. Thirty-seven years after its 500-copy run sank without a
trace in 1965, 5,000 — yes, 5,000 — Melvin Davis fans are flipping
Wales’ Prestatyn Soul Weekender on its collective ear. To this throng of
music fanatics, DJs and record collectors, the song in question, “Find a
Quiet Place (and be Lonely),” is an anthem, and its rarity has only
amplified its legend." - Michael Hurtt, MetroTimes

sang with Aretha Franklin. She sang for Stax records. She sang back up
on Jackie Wilson’s album, “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher”, and Isaac
Hayes’ album “Hot Buttered Soul.” Prince has also had her singing by
his side. Pat Lewis is another living Motown legend, and now is your
chance to hear her live at PJ's Lager House!!

& bred Downriver, singer/songwriter Ryan Dillaha is truly a product
of Detroit. Educated at Wayne State, he worked at Rouge Steel while
working on his PhD in American Literature. Growing up he was surrounded
by Motown and the classic country music his father brought with him as
he made his way up the "Hillbilly Highway" from Tennessee to Detroit for
work. These influences are unmistakable in Dillaha's heartfelt
self-released, "Love Alone". As the cover promises..."solid gold
heartbreaking hits".

newest sibling to the Detroit Party Marching Band, The Second Line
Brass Band has a different lean on similar instrumentation. Before
Swing, before Bebop, there was Dixie Land, and this 8 piece group easily
takes you to another era. With horns, drums and banjo, they will
celebrate the New Year to the tune of times past, with Dixie Land and
New Orleans style brass music, playing everything from Rebirth to Bix.
