Mollywop! is a Detroit-based band led by Malik Yakini that plays hard-hitting original and classic funk, reggae, rock and more!

S.I.R.I.U.S. (Savior Is Really In (U)niversal Self) also known as Kadiri Sennefer Ra has many roles within the community. His roots stem from the famed Black Star Community Bookstore, which was a pillar in the community, and a dynamic resource of information and networking. This environment spawned the renowned Power Movement Family (PMF). SIRIUS aka Kadiri is an active member of the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network (DBCFSN), and serves as Compost Operations/ Co farm Manager at D-town Farm. He has worked with East Michigan Environmental Action Council (EMEAC)’s G.A.M.E. youth summer program and their Food Justice Friday monthly event. He has also worked with Detroit Future’s (DF) youth network and attended and graduated from Detroit Future Media program in 2012 (DFM2).

Before releasing his first solo project in 2010, S.I.R.I.U.S. gained production experience by working as an engineer for artists that frequented the Black Star Community Bookstore. Following the release of “Lemonade” [2007] by the Power Movement, S.I.R.I.U.S. has gone on to record and perform with notable artists such as: GMAC (Impeccable Projects), Bryce, Sage, and Cleveland H. (AEe Tech/ Detroit Recordings), Perfect Eclipse (Pop Killaz), and Kid Boom Box (Stereo Boyz).

In 2012 He produced the internationally acclaimed MicroFest USA Detroit Mixtape, featuring five time in a row Showtime at the Apollo winner Jessica Care Moore, Writer and Emmy award winning Documentary filmmaker Dream Hampton, and more.

S.I.R.I.U.S. has also blessed many stages and events including: the Artist Village, 1515 Broadway, Project Art -Ziggedy Boom Festival, Broadside Press 2005 poetry contest, Million More Man March Rally @ the Heidelberg Project, The Serengeti gallery – Revolutionary Black August, Hart Plaza, The Magic Stick; 2010 US Social Forum, St. Andrews – S.T.R.U.T Cancer benefit, and many others. S.I.R.I.U.S is currently releasing a project with Perfect Eclipse: Scroll of the Messengers, finishing up his solo project and performing with the band Molly Wop.

Through his art S.I.R.I.U.S provides nourishment for thought by using captivating messages which challenge our conditioned sense of normalcy and engagingly provokes us as an audience. SIRIUS is here to remind us that “Life is SIRIUS, but not that Serious. It’s just a Series of Experiences, which we are free to interpret anyway we choose”.
