Scarlet Lies is a glam rock pop band that has been throwing glitter all around the Metro Detroit area. In June of 2016 they made their debut closing the main stage at Ferndale’s Pride Festival and have hit the ground running ever since. Scarlet Lies started off 2017 releasing their debut album “Monsters Coming Out” which has had great success with digital and physical sales and broke into Reverb Nation’s top five Detroit rock charts. The band is now working on their sophomore album, and venturing out into new cities to help make America glitter again!

Nina & the Buffalo Riders: “Catch them now before they go supernova. The band’s sound is bluesy and psychedelic while Nina Sofia’s powerhouse vocals are soon to be classified one of the seven wonders of the Midwestern world” (Metro Times).

“The passionate vocals of Nina Sofia which when accompanied…gave the crowd a musical stew that hinted at influences by The Grateful Dead, Tedeschi-Trucks Band, and Janis Joplin” (Chuck Marshall -National Rock Review).

Since their formation in early 2013, “Nina and the Buffalo Riders have been steadily building a following in Detroit with music that aches with soul and burns with the heart of rock” (Chuck Marshall – National Rock Review), playing prime time slots at Detroit Winter Blast 2016 & 2017; Showcase D’Holidays 2015; Arts Beats and Eats Royal Oak 2015 & 2016; opening for Detroit’s own Sponge at the Allen Park City Art and Music Festival in 2013, 2014, and 2015; the Metro Times Blowout 2015, Hamtramck Music Festival 2016 & 2017; and the Ferndale City Pride Festival in 2014; headlining venues such as the Magic Stick Detroit; Short’s Brewing Company Bellaire; PJ’s Lager House Corktown; Blind Pig Ann Arbor; Hopcat Detroit; as well as direct support for national acts such as The Steepwater Band Chicago, Mike Leslie of Candelbox, and Detroit Classic Rock royalty Frijid Pink.

“In the sixties, they would have been referenced as a ‘tribal’ band because of their ‘hippie’ tendency. Nowadays, they just play good music and don’t have to worry about labels” (PhilMaq- Radio Personality at 89.3 WHFR).

Nina and The Buffalo Riders debut EP is out now and can be purchased at iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and CD Baby and streamed on both Spotify and Pandora.

After a magical recording experience at Studio Litho with producer Shawn Simmons at Studio Litho in Seatlle, NBR will be releasing their second CD on August 25, 2017!!

The Bruised Reed is a female-fronted, fuzzy indie pop band led by husband and wife team Josh and Kirsten Wheeler. The music leans fuzzy and ragged when it wants to, but contemplative and slowcore when it needs to.

The band started as a basement-bound side project for Josh to exercise some of his songwriting demons; composing, recording, and playing all instruments on their 2008 debut LP “Pass Around the Easy Lie”, and 2010’s follow-up EP “New Words For Old Desires”; with Kirsten handling all vocal duties.

They released the albums for free online, with no real intent for the project other than to have the songs available so people would get a chance to hear them.

Attention quickly followed as their music was picked up for local airplay on several radio stations, written about in local blogs, and even had a song featured in a Chevrolet commercial. The band went on to contribute the lead-off track to 2013’s Elliott Smith tribute album “Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands.”

Around this time, “International Pop Overthrow” Festival curator David Bash happened upon the recordings online and invited the duo to put together a full band and play at the 2014 event. Josh recruited local musicians to fully realize these basement noodlings as stage-ready songs. Shortly thereafter the band was invited to play 2014 and 2015’s “Metro Times Blowout” festival, made a live appearance on WDET 101.9FM’s “Ann Delisi’s Essential Music”, and booked several surrounding dates; including performances at 2015 and 2016’s “Detroit by Detroit” showcase.

The band is hard at work on new music, issuing a regular series of two-track digital releases (not-so-cleverly titled “Doubles”). There are now three installments available for purchase and streaming at all major digital retailers.

“…the band manages to weave dreamy layered melodies and Kirsten’s ethereal vocals together with angular chord changes in a way that is mellow and rocks at the same time. ” – IPO 2014

“…Kirsten Wheeler has a stunning voice, while Josh Wheeler can write a killer tune and thwack his axe. The results are hard-rocking yet gorgeous and soaring. A marriage made in heaven, then” – Metro Times Detroit

“…a band we’re sure everyone will be talking about…the band is going big!” –
