Off the Ledge: We are a band of friends that get together to play, compose and perform great music.

Our Band functions as a cover band and a band that writes and performers original music.

Our sound would be best called bluesy funk rock or funky blues rock. Our original music combines ideas and influences from a vastly diverse range of musical genres.

Sam Barron: Having grown up on the streets of New York City dreaming of Planet Rock and playing hoops, Sam Barron pens songs about Red Mercury, stolen smokes and the East Village heartbeat. With his latest release I Just Couldn’t Help Myself, Barron found inspiration in a $40 guitar purchase made at a flea market. That guitar, a vintage Stella Harmony, has been twisting its way into Sam’s writing, giving him a new sound which he blends with electronic elements from the streets of his youth. The title and cover art come from a not-so-discreet message left by artist Ben Baker for Sam on the bathroom wall of The Emerson Bar in Brooklyn. I Just Couldn’t Help Myself was recorded with AntiFolk cohort Brain Speaker (Jeffrey Lewis, Crazy and the Brains, Kung Fu Crimewave).

“Sam Barron’s unique blend of anti folk puts you in a multi-generational head space. His sometimes abstract prose is stitched together with sounds that feels as much like proto punk as classic Americana folk all smashed together.”
-American Pancake

Mimi Oz & Rooster: High energy folk punk, alt country rock band Rooster is lead by Canadian songwriter “Mimi Oz”. Originally the project came to fruition as symbol of pride and sexuality for Mimi as she began sharing her music with US audiences. The band has evolved into a 4 piece rocking Alt country, folk punk group featuring quirky slick lyrics, mixing sexy and nasty together like no other. Founding members include Lou Cozza on percussion, William Pearson on electric guitar and Joe Yoga on Bass. Performances are a mixed bag, ranging from shaming American pride & gunslinging to topics of love and suicide.

Rooster is currently working on an EP being produced by Dan Ricker of Under St. Marks Theatre open mic due to be released in the fall of 2016 titled “Baby On The J”. As well as a claymation music video.
