The Potions / Primitiv Parts / Willa Rae & the Minor Arcana

The Potions: Gozer the Traveler! He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the Rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveler came as a large and moving Torb! Then, during the Third Reconciliation of the Last of the Meketrex Supplicants, they chose a new form for him, that of a giant Sloar! Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of a Sloar that day, I can tell you!
Primitiv Parts: Gothy garage-punk/no wave from Detroit.
Willa Rae and the Minor Arcana is a force to be reckoned with. Willa Rae Adamo, a Detroit dweller with an old soul and the power behind the band’s sound, got her start with classical and opera vocal training at the early age of twelve. Though her musical inclinations have strayed from opera, her classical roots bare through in her powerhouse of a voice. Under the influence of icons such as Johnny Cash, the Violent Femmes and Ani Difranco, Willa Rae’s love for rock and roll was fully consummated, with an incredible repertoire of original songs to show for it. A singer-songwriter at her core, Willa spends her time crafting songs that reflect the beautiful disaster that is the human condition, telling stories of love gone bad, and reckoning with the ghosts of her own past. If you’re lost, if you’re lonely, if you’re in awe of the world around you – listen in.
In the winter of 2015 the Minor Arcana got its start as an acoustic trio. Since then they have grown into a loose collective of like-minded musicians with sundry influences; everything from glam rock to grunge, folk to punk guides the Minor Arcana’s sound. The band’s backbone consists of Alex Berry on bass guitar and Mackenzie Sato on percussion. Craig Adams of the Witches on electric guitar and piano, Ramiro Romero of Nina & the Buffalo Riders on banjo and acoustic guitar, and Kaylan Mitchell of Canada and the Juliets on cello, compose the lungs and other vital organs. Carmel Liburdi and a rotating cast of other guest vocalists and musicians make for a powerful and joyful live experience.
This project may be new, but this group of young yet seasoned veterans’ presence in the local music scene is anything but small. This year alone they were featured at both the Metro Time Blowout and the Hamtramck Music Fest amongst many a local dive bar. The band has also had the pleasure to play alongside local icons such as Audra Kubat, The Sights, Scott Morgan, and Danny Kroha. Willa Rae and the Minor Arcana is a burgeoning electric local gem you do not want to miss.
